About
Fire Terminator NZ is the New Zealand distributor for Fire Terminator International, a Singapore company that has been making plant-based firefighting agents since 2012. We are based in Auckland. The can we sell is the household format of a product line whose other customers are airports, navies, oil refineries and forestry services.
The company behind the can
Fire Terminator International was founded in Singapore in 2012 by Dr Judah Jay, a researcher who had spent more than three decades working on fire suppression chemistry. The problem he set out to solve was not that existing foams did not work. It was that the ones that worked best were built on fluorinated chemicals, and those chemicals do not go away.
The result was the FT JN1010 family: a plant-based, fluorine-free agent that suppresses fire by stripping heat out of it rather than by capping it with a film. The same core chemistry is now sold in several formats. FT JN1010 Marine is an IMO-compliant foam for commercial vessels. Formula E-Li is built for lithium-ion battery fires in data centres and EV charging sites. FT JN669 is a wildland and peatland agent that has been used on forest fires at scale.
The 600 ml Hydrodynamic Spray sold here is the smallest member of that family. It is the same idea, in a can you can hold in one hand.
Where it has been used
Singapore Changi Airport certified the agent to ICAO Doc 9137 Level B, the standard applied to aircraft rescue and firefighting, after a live fire demonstration. The Singapore Ministry of Defence holds it. The Indonesian Air Force deployed 2.2 tonnes of it against the Riau land and peatland fires in October 2015. PEMEX, the Mexican state oil company, hosted a demonstration for its own safety leadership. The Florida State Firefighters Association has tested it in the field alongside serving firefighters.
Fire Terminator has been covered by Forbes, by Mothership in Singapore, and across the Indonesian press during the 2015 fire season.

Why the chemistry matters
For fifty years the standard answer to a serious fire was AFFF, aqueous film-forming foam. It is effective, and it is also persistent: it accumulates in groundwater, in soil and in people. It is now the subject of major contamination litigation in the United States, and fire services around the world are moving off it.
The FT JN1010 formula has been independently confirmed PFAS-free by UL Solutions in the United States and Pacific Rim Laboratories in Canada, and certified non-toxic by TÜV SÜD PSB in Singapore. It carries the Singapore Environmental Council Green Label. In practical terms that is why you can use it on a pan fire and then wipe the bench down, rather than evacuating the kitchen and replacing the contents of your cupboards.
What we do here
We import, hold stock and ship within New Zealand, and we handle trade and fleet supply. We have engaged with WorkSafe New Zealand on the product's regulatory status, and hold written confirmation that FERN registration is not required for it as an aerosol dispenser fire suppressant under Regulation 15.25.
We are a small operation and we would rather answer a question than lose a sale to a wrong assumption. If you want to see a lab report, ask for it.
